Moose Calves (Alces alces)

Moose are the largest members of the deer family and are generally solitary animals; except during mating season. They usually bear one offspring after a gestation period of 230 days. Calves weigh between 24 to 35 pounds at birth and have reddish-brown coats.

Today In History: Thomas Jefferson Was Elected as US President

It was in February 17, 1801 when Thomas Jefferson was elected as the 3rd President of the United States of America.

Born in April 13, 1743, Thomas Jefferson was the principal author of the Declaration of Independence, a formal document which officially proclaimed that the thirteen American colonies regarded themselves as independent states and no longer part of the British Empire.
